This is Halloween weather?

Things were always better "back in my day." Like Halloween weather.
I swear, I don't ever remember going out (or even passing out candy, for that matter, since my parents were so strict and so distrusting of strangers that they were convinced we would receive poisonous candy or candy with needles in them) in 30-degree weather for Halloween. It was frickin' cold out there. Waaaay too cold. I felt guilty taking the girls out in that winter weather. In fact, we, along with baby-sitters Katie and Maya, were speedwalking to the half-dozen or so houses we visited just so we wouldn't have to be out in the cold so darn long. It was so cold that I didn't want the girls to suffer any more than they had to in this crazy Wisconsin weather by making them pose for pictures. So, I disappoint many by stating that I didn't get day-of-Halloween pictures. But here are more day-before-Halloween Ella-as-Dora pictures.
Shouldn't costume makers consider the weather when designing some of their costumes? Do they really expect people in Wisconsin to dress their little girls up as Dora in jersey-thin T-shirts and shorts? Ella ended up wearing grey fleece pants underneath her signature orange Dora shorts, a long-sleeve white T under her purple Dora shirt (complete with signature adventure backpack connected in the back to the T-shirt) and her white puff coat over almost the entire outfit! But at least the wig salvaged the look. But then again, the wig was so disheveled, she could have passed for a witch! But really, why don't costume makers think about these things? And to think, I even saw skimpy little princess and fairy costumes that never, in a million years, would protect any poor girl from this bitingly cold weather!
But Ella had fun. Never will she reject anyone giving her candy. She was so excited about all this candy that she didn't even put up a fuss when I left for work and she knew she'd have to stay home with Katie and Maya. And my chubby Norah: She seemed too cold out there, but she didn't complain! And she also looked forward to the candy; but for the Chubster, the fun's in chewing on and playing with the wrappers. Little does she know that underneath all that fun cellophane and paper is sweet stuff that's bad, bad, bad for the teeth!

WI weather? Nothing compared to MI weather- welcome to our tundra! It was freezing cold and I had Theoden in a fleece jumpsuit underneath his peapod outfit. It was soooooo cold, he just clung onto me and Pao and then dozed off to sleep while we were carrying him. He had no IDEA what was going on but his big eyes were just looking EVERYWHERE! HA HA HA! AND it was so cold, I didn't even get pictures either. Just before pictures also.
i had to come check to see what ella was for halloween:-) see you guys this weekend!
MAY: You guys should visit next year so Theoden can go trick-or-treating with the girls! I can't wait to see pictures of him in his costume! Did he get a lot of candy? Does he know how to eat candy yet?
CHENG: So what do you think of her costume? A cutie, huh?
