Kicking blankets

How in the world do babies and toddlers sleep through the night with no blankets? Ella and Norah are always kicking off their blankets. Even if they're asleep and I tuck them back in, within moments they'll kick them off again. And here I am, trying to warm up under my comforter, freezing, using The Husband for the body warmth his excess fat provides. And I know the girls don't have nearly as much insulating fat as me or The Husband.

And in the case of Ella, she knows how to get her own clothes out of her dresser now. So if she wants to wear a shirt with a butterfly on it -- never mind that it's a summer tank in the chilly fall -- she'll still insist on wearing it. I don't give in, but the other adult in the house does. So ... Ella went to bed last night wearing a sleeveless shirt -- but wait, it had cherries on it so she had to wear it.

How do they do it?

I don't know either! Our bedroom is always freezing cold (I think it's because the door to our balcony has poor insulation) but Theoden still manages to sleep (when he decides to) without a blanket! He rolls and rolls and rolls- I just don't get it! He definitely gets it from Pao though. Pao ends up in the weirdest positions when he sleeps and he ends up kicking off ALL the blanket too. I find myself constantly getting up at night to fix our comforter because his fat butt kicked the blanket to the ground or something. ALL OF THE VANG FAMILY IS THIS WAY!

I was wondering the same thing about babies. You know how they say to not put a blanket into the crib. So I guess we put them in their sleepers and swaddle them. I told Mike he has to turn the heater higher. He is notorious for keeping the house cold and then he turns a fan on at night. But guess who has all the blanket in the morning? Yup, Mike does, and I'm freezing the whole time.

MAY: I hate it when John will sleep on the blanket, and then I'm trying to pull on it to give myself more -- but I can't, because his overweight self is on it and there's no way I'm pulling 165+ pounds of blanket!

LAU: When they're newborns, keep then swaddled. I don't think it hurts to lay another blanket over them. We did that with both girls ... Give Mike his own blanket!

CATHY: You do NOT want to see her "sense of fashion!" She'll take a girly yellow shirt with a bunny on it and decide she wants to wear blue sweat/fleece pants that are way too short. Total FOB! ... You know I'm a Tigers fan, right? :) GO TIGERS!
